Kathmandu.

Independent candidate for mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah (Balen) has received discussion from the streets to the parliament. The discussion on the road is focused on congratulations and hope, while the leaders in Parliament have discussed it with skepticism. Leaders in particular have linked the party system to Balen’s victory. Even the leaders of the major political parties are publicly expressing Balen’s victory, even with skepticism. One can easily assume that the victory of ‘Balen’ brought a wave in politics.
Former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana says that it is natural for the top leaders to be shocked when the leadership of Kathmandu Metropolitan City goes out of the party mechanism. ‘The leadership of the capital is seen as the leadership of the future country. That is why it is natural for top leaders to be shocked when an independent candidate wins by popular vote, “said Dhungana.
According to former speaker Dhungana, most of the lawmakers participating in the debate on government policies and programs in parliament are talking about Balen’s victory. Congratulations to Balen, ready to cooperate. Independent candidates like Balen do not shy away from saying that winning is a mistrust of the parties.
After the victory of the independent candidate in the leadership of Kathmandu metropolis, a wave has come in the central politics. In the meeting of the federal parliament, the lawmakers are showing that the people’s distrust towards the parties has increased by showing Bale’s victory.
Speaking in the House of Representatives on Thursday, former prime minister and respected leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Jhala Nath Khanal warned that many Balens would be born if the parties did not improve. In other words, Khanal’s remarks reflected the perception that Balen’s victory was a threat to political parties. He said, “If the political parties do not function properly, many Balens will be born.” “We have to think twice. As the Balens win, the political parties cease to exist, ”Khanal said.
As Khanal said, sociologist Mamata Sharma also says that in recent times, voters have shown more confidence in independent candidates than the official candidates of political parties.
“Even in Kathmandu, people have been asking for votes for mayor for almost four decades. In that case, it is natural for the people to look for something new, “she said.
According to sociologist Sharma, the wave of independent candidates has increased across the country in the local level elections held on 30 April.

Independent candidate Hark Sampang Rai, who was contesting the election not only in Kathmandu Metropolitan City but also in Dharan Sub-metropolitan area of Sunsari, was elected. Independent candidate Manoj Kumar Sah was also elected as the chief of Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan municipality. Meanwhile, independent candidate Gopal Hamal was elected as the chief of Dhangadhi sub-metropolis of Kailali. Independent candidate Prahlad Chhetri won the post of Bardibas mayor of Mahottari. Tara Devi Mahato of the independent panel was also elected as the deputy chief.

Out of 2,402 candidates for the post of vice-president from across the country, 364 had given independent candidature. The same candidature was held among the ward chairpersons and independents. Independent candidates have also won under the ward leadership of various municipalities of the country.
Although independent candidates have won in different parts of the country, the victory of ‘Balen’ has brought a wave in the central politics.
